This report is to provide guidelines on socio-cultural and ethical considerations for future development and exploitation of the iToBoS technologies.
Its purpose is to assist future decision-makers and stakeholders in using the new technologies in the dermatological context. It will ensure inclusiveness of the implementation of the system (gender, age, ability, genetics and ethnicity), strengthen interactions between users and team members, and establish and increase trust for the technologies. The reason for the guidelines is to empower the sustainability of the project results.
The report also covers the processes identified as ‘best practice’ during the project. The guidelines will be compiled in the form of a handbook that offers tools for evaluating the impact of the technologies, for both patients and medical professionals. They will be disseminated to healthcare professionals, patients, care-givers and -receivers, and related EU-projects.
Trilateral will leverage the insight from these guidelines to inform their general research & innovation capabilities, impact assessment expertise, general consultancy services concerning explainability, trustworthy and ethical AI, and their technical development activities. The guidelines will be informed by wider research in the iToBoS project, related to anonymization (WP4), explainability (WP6/7), and risk assessment (WP8).
