iToBoS presented in Skin Cancer Self-Help

iToBoS is presented as a EU project that develops intelligent body scanner for early detection of melanoma.

The acronym iToBoS stands for "Intelligent Total Body Scanner for Early Detection of Melanoma". And the iToBoS team is developing just such a skin cancer scanner that works with artificial intelligence. The earlier melanomas are discovered, the higher the chances of recovery: detected in the early stages, more than 90 percent of those affected survive the first five years after the start of treatment. If the cancer is diagnosed late and has already spread, only around a quarter survive this phase.

Founded by Berlin patients, the “Skin Cancer Self-Help” has since offered regular group meetings that are open to new participants. They also organize lectures and workshops with experts on various topics. The group is networked with other self-help groups in Germany and throughout Europe, organized in the Skin Cancer Network Germany and in the Melanoma Patient Network Europe. They also work in the National Skin Cancer Care Conference and in the Working Group on Dermatological Oncology.
