The QUEST Centre, which focuses on improving biomedical research, especially in the areas of robustness and transparency, regularly hosts the Machine Learning in Healthcare Meetup to showcase relevant research and cool startups in the field.
On 5th July 2023, Dr. Sebastian Lapuschkin was invited as a speaker. His talk covered how established techniques from XAI can be used to successfully understand, debug, and improve machine learning models, data, and pipelines (at hand of select examples borrowed from the medical domain). Furthermore, an outlook on how recent developments in XAI may lead to more human interpretable explanations leading to novel analyses will be provided. The talk included research conducted throughout the iToBoS project.
