Mátrafüred, 30/08/2024.

The Hungarian Society of Personalized Medicine invited HUN-REN SZTAKI colleague Róbert Lovas to give a presentation about how digital infrastructures can support personalized medicine in the modern world.

In 2024, the picturesque Gyöngyös-Mátrafüred, Hungary hosted the annual conference of the Hungarian Society of Personalized Medicine. The two-day-long event accommodated 30+ prestigious speakers from the world of medicine. The acclaimed presenters introduced various aspects of how AI, machine learning, big data and other digital technologies can improve medicine and enhance medical research and innovations. From drug discoveries to health data analytics and precision treatments, the possibilities are endless- we just have to keep an open mind. The conference also highlighted the necessary measures these forward-looking technologies evoke: the need for standardization in the field of health data, international harmonization of health research funding models and the ethical dilemmas raised by the spread of utilizing AI.

In his talk, Róbert Lovas gave an overview of the national and international trends and best practices regarding digital infrastructures supporting innovation and research in the field of health industry. Lovas pinpointed that several European medical/health initiatives and projects are already benefiting from the usage of AI, ML, big data or other digital technologies. One great example of this collaboration is the iToBoS project, where HUN-REN SZTAKI endorses melanoma detection by providing HUN-REN Cloud resources to integrate the project partners' data sources and in vivo diagnostics.
