Buenos Aires, 16-19/10/2024.
Dr. J. Malvehy was a speaker at the World Congress of Dermoscopy, held in Buenos Aires from October 16 to 19, 2024, at the Palacio de Congresos.
On October 17, during the symposium “Monitoring High-Risk Patients”, he delivered the lecture “Man against the machine or man together with machine?”. In his presentation, he explored the role of artificial intelligence in skin cancer detection, discussing whether technology should be seen as a competitor or an ally in clinical decision-making.
He also delivered the lecture “How can technology such as RCM and in vivo gene expression profiling help in not missing melanoma”, as part of the session “Melanoma I: Epidemiology-Diagnosis-How not to miss difficult lesions”. In his presentation, he discussed the role of reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and in vivo gene expression profiling as key tools to improve the detection and early diagnosis of melanoma, particularly in difficult-to-recognize lesions.
In both lectures, he highlighted advancements from projects such as iToBoS, which leverage artificial intelligence to enhance skin cancer detection and personalized risk assessment.
