"Meet iToBoS" workshop series: Clinical Trials

Online, 15/09/2023.

Meet our colleague Clare Primiero from the University of Queensland in Australia.

She is not only our clinical trial coordinator- and will have insights into the challenges of running collaborative trials between Australia and Europe-, but who is also is a passionate science communicator and moreever who has recently completed her PhD in mainstreaming genetic testing for Familial Melanoma!

Dr Clare Primiero presented as part of this series to provide an inside look into the clinical trials that take part in the iToBoS project. Clare described the ‘Clinical Data Acquisition Study’, currently taking place at the Barcelona Hospital Clinic. Participation in this research study involves patients to undergo total body photography, complete a short questionnaire, and provide a genetic sample. The objective of this research study is to use the images of skin lesions, the risk information collected in the questionnaires, and genetic risk profile to develop the AI Cognitive Assistant that will be central to the iToBoS platform.

MPNE is proud partner in iToBoS (Intelligent Total Body Scanner for Early Detection of Melanoma), an EU-funded project not only developing an AI diagnostic platform for the early detection of melanoma- but also to test it in a clinical trial.
