iToBoS project presented in the Latino-americano Dermoscopy Congress

Santiago de Chile, 7-9/09/2023.

iToBoS was discussed in two presentations at the Latino-americano Dermoscopy Congress held at Santiago, Chile in September, 2023.

Dr. Josep Malvehy, member of Fundació Clínic per a la Recerca Biomèdica and scientific partner of the iToBoS Project, presented the talks titled “3D TBP (Total Body Photography)” and “New Technologies, and the role of AI”.

In both of Dr Malvehy’s presentations he discussed the existing and emerging technologies for early detection of melanoma. The VECTRA WB360 is currently a leading device for producing 3D total body photography. This system has existing AI tools which are capable of detecting and counting the number of naevi on an individual. Further AI tools can also provide risk evaluation of linked dermoscopy images. When discussing emerging technologies Dr Malvehy introduced the iToBoS Total Body Scanner as an innovative platform for early detection of melanoma. He presented on the AI tools which are being developed for iToBoS, that will provide a holistic risk assessment for not just individual lesions, but also to stratify risk of individual patients.

The Congress was a major three-day event for Latin-American clinicians and Scientist working in skin cancer, with international presenters from 10 different countries.
