iToBoS was discussed in a presentation at the International Course for Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology held at Sevilla, Spain in 17th June, 2023.
Dr. Josep Malvehy, member of Fundació Clínic per a la Recerca Biomèdica, scientific partner of the iToBoS Project, presented the talk titled; “AI in Dermatology: The future in 5 years”.
Dr Malvehy’s presented on the rapidly advancing topic of AI in Dermatology. He provided a description of artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning, and how they are already impacting areas in medicine. In Dermatology, AI is has proved useful for disease classification of both skin lesion images (dermoscopy or clinical), and from histopathology lesions; assessment of disease using mobile applications and personal monitoring devices; facilitating large-scale epidemiology research; and Precision Medicine. Dr Malvehy also introduced the objective of iToBoS to incorporate an AI Cognitive Assistant, capable of providing holistic risk assessment of patients and individual lesions for the early detection of melanoma.
