iToBoS at the Barcolana, the largest sailing race in the world

Trieste, 4/10/2023.

Every second Sunday in October (since 1969), the Gulf of Trieste celebrates the most attended nautical event in the world, with over 2000 boats and 30 thousand people at sea.

In the 50th-anniversary edition (in 2018), this sailing regatta entered the Guinness Book of Records as the “Largest Sailing Race” with 2,689 registered boats. Both expert and amateur sailors, even beginners, can participate in boats of various sizes divided into categories.

Among the public events related to Barcolana, the University of Trieste was there with a stand where several scientific projects were presented. On Wednesday 4th, October at 5PM, Iris Zalaudek, member of the project, presented the iToBoS project with 45 minutes of presentation and discussion. During the talk, preventive measures for sun exposure were also illustrated to sensitize sailors on the proper use of sunscreens.
